Meet Raoul Du Toit, SAHTA Director.

Raoul Du Toit was born in Kensington, Cape Town, where he spent his early childhood before moving to Walvis Bay in the 1970s. It was there that he spent most of his formative years. After leaving school in 1976, he joined his father’s business, gaining early exposure to disciplined, hands-on work.

In 1979, Raoul joined Rossing Uranium Limited (RUL) in Namibia as an operator. Through dedication and steady progression, he rose to the position of Open Pit Training Manager, serving the company with distinction for 20 years.

In 2000, Raoul and his family relocated to Oudtshoorn, South Africa. He joined Phezukomkhono Training Services (PTS) as a Skills Development Facilitator and was later appointed Director: Marketing & Training. Today, he is the proud owner of PTS. This year, the organisation celebrates 26 years of excellence in Agricultural Training and Development.

Raoul is also a founding member of the Western Cape Honeybush Tea Co-operative Limited in De Hoek, Oudtshoorn. He currently serves as Chairperson of the Water & Sanitation Forum in Oudtshoorn, where he continues to champion community-centred development.

Within SAHTA, Raoul contributes to the Wild Harvesting & Sustainability portfolio. He played a key role in rolling out the Biodiversity Management Plan for wild harvesters, ensuring responsible stewardship of indigenous plant resources.
